Your model has been checked over by the training administrator and he says your ready to go. He will probably confirm with you that your happy for him to initially fly it for you. This is usual in most circumstances especially if you are not using the clubs training model but your own pride and joy.
He will then get your aircraft into the air and check that it flies correctly. Trimming the surfaces so that the plane cruises straight and level. After a few circuits and everything looks fine he may put the plane into basic aerobatics, this verifies that the model is flying happily, structurally sound. He will make comments at this time to you stood next to him regarding what may need adjusting. The trainer will land the model and hopefully the anxiety and tension you had has gone and smiles all round.
You may then have to carry out minor adjustments and refuel - because the next flight will see you take the controls after the trainer has got the model up to a safe height.
Initially a Buddy Box may be used. A"Buddy Box" is another transmitter (slave) connected to the trainer's transmitter, the master via a special socket. Only the master control emits radio signals and the slave data is sent electrically down the connecting cable. Never, ever take your eyes of the model in flight. By the time your eyes have re-acquired it, it may be out of control or range.
With just a light touch on the trainer switch on the master and he will have given you control of your aircraft. For novices this is ideal because in a second he can assume control if your having difficulties or he wishes to demonstrate a maneouvre.
After about 10 mins of flight time he will assume control and land the model for you. Believe me, you will find yourself quite tensed with the amount of concentration required.
