Your First Flight

Training

aircraft landing Your model has been checked over by the training administrator and he says your ready to go.  He will probably confirm with you that your happy for him to initially fly it for you.  This is usual in most circumstances especially if you are not using the clubs training model but your own pride and joy.

He will then get your aircraft into the air and check that it flies correctly.  Trimming the surfaces so that the plane cruises straight and level.  After a few circuits and everything looks fine he may put the plane into basic aerobatics, this verifies that the model is flying happily, structurally sound.  He will make comments at this time to you stood next to him regarding what may need adjusting.  The trainer will land the model and hopefully the anxiety and tension you had has gone and smiles all round.

Lot's of questions run round in your mind.   How much is it going to cost to get started?  Where to start?  Wimborne Model Aero Club (WMAC) offers help and advice in taking up radio control flight to all ages and abilities.

If you have flown before and do not have a model just yet then come along to our airfield for an introductionary flight with the clubs trainer aircraft and one of the clubs instructors.  We do have"buddy box" equipment, this is two transmitters linked by cable, the instructor has the master and you take the slave.  Once in the air the instructor can flick a switch and you will have control.  Exciting!
